Wow, there's so much to say. But first, I was going to do the next page also but... I feel like shit to say the least. D: (At least it's not like when I had a stomach virus Christmas night and puked up all the yummy food I just ate.) It can't be just one problem, it has to be many. It's that time of the month, I have a cold including sore throat and headache, and the canker sore from HELL. It hurts when I move my mouth and has been there for almost a week.

Minors doing pornographic stuff? I can see why they wouldn't consider it art.

I think they've only changed the one panel in FMA and it really doesn't change the meaning or story...

"My parents sold me when I was four." LOL!

The only reason they're not considering it art is because Perverted Justice (the people who do the To Catch a Predator show) and advertisers are like, "Get that stuff of your site, or we won't pay you any money." (Of course, LJ has made no claim that this is the case, but there's been plenty of reports.)

I can see why they wouldn't either but the reason "minor" was in quotation marks is because I saw the picture one of the users was banned for. It was Snape/Harry and was supposedly based on a fanfic where Harry was 18 (and he did look 18 too). They assume that because Harry Potter is remembered more as a kid, that he must be a kid in all pictures/fanfic. Not only that, but they claimed the piece had "no artistic merit" which was BS since it was a very beautifully drawn picture (realistic-style, the person probably had art training of some sort, professional quality CG coloring).

I never saw what the other person was suspended for though. =\

You can't censor art just because there's something illegal happening in it, especially if the characters aren't even real. (As a friend said, "Think of the imaginary children you're hurting!")

Ohman, that was a lot of rambling and I could go on, but I'll stop. XD

As for manga censoring, one panel or 20 panels, it doesn't matter to me the number. Just the fact that they had the audacity to do it. And the thing they changed in FMA was Greed being crucified which if Viz is so concerned about religious groups going after them, then why would they published Death Note? Where the main character goes around pretending to be God and killing people.

I've talked to people from Viz before and one guy said he HAD done edits to manga and the thing that bothered me most was that he seemed perfectly fine, like he was doing absolutely nothing wrong. That /scares/ me.

I probably care too much about this, but someone has to.

>.O I hear ya ~! I hate censorship in art!
So much so that I did my senior project on it ^^; I compared it to music, and how visual and raunchy a music artist can be in his music, while art is so much more censored every time someone opens their eyes.
Of course, all of my classmates basically told me I was wrong, and I barely passed ><
Stupid censorship.

I thought I'd come back to this conversation...

I'm with you, I'm against censorship, but isn't that the law?

Also I hate death note...

Heh, I totally forgot about this. But what it basically boils down to is... in real child pornography, there is a real victim with real feelings. In drawings, there is no physical victim, no real feelings. :s

Oh. Well, I wasn't expecting that. Neither was Mark, it seems.
